WHAT IS PAEDIATRIC PHYSIOTHERAPY?

The aim of paediatric physiotherapy is to improve and maintain children’s functional capacity and mobility by helping them try out as wide a range of normal models of movement as possible.

Paediatric physiotherapy supports children’s participation in play, schooling, recreational activities, and social life in spite of possible illness or pain. The rehabilitation process is based on the needs of children and their families, and rehabilitation goals are developed together with the children’s families.

Paediatric physiotherapy services are provided at our facilities and through home, school and daycare center visits.

CHILDREN’S CLINIC

A children’s clinic, offering multidisciplinary rehabilitation, has been opened at Pirkanmaa Specialist Rehabilitation’s new facilities in the Koskikeskus center. The clinic’s equipment has been selected with a wide range of children’s rehabilitation needs in mind.

Rehabilitation at the children’s clinic is carried out by physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists with training in paediatric rehabilitation. A child may simultaneously meet with two different care professionals from different specialist fields. The children’s clinic supports the idea of a rehabilitation path, in which the rehabilitation client makes the journey, and the experts meet him/her along the way.
